There is a new movie coming out in October starring Hilary Swank and Richard Gere called "Amelia". The link to the trailer is http://www.foxsearchlight.com/amelia/. It's been suggested a fun meeting would be to get together in Birmingham or Huntsville to see the movie at a matinee and maybe go grab a bite to eat afterwards...a definite date, time and place will be in next month’s newsletter, so start planning for a movie date!

We have tentatively scheduled a lake party at Sara Rutland's lake home on Smith Lake.
Date, time and info are TBD.
July 2009
July will be the International Convention in Chicago, so there will be no local chapter meeting.
June 2009
Our June meeting will be a compass rose painting at the Southern Museum of Flight. This will be a "miniature" compass rose in the parking lot out front of the museum, by the F 4. If you've never painted one before, this is a great introduction to this fun activity. The date for this will be June 13th. Plan to meet at the Southern Museum of Flight next to the Birmingham International Airport at 9 am. It's good to start early before it gets too hot. After we finish, we'll go grab lunch at the Irondale Cafe. If you are flying in, plan to park at the Atlantic East ramp and they will run you over to the Museum. The rain date will be June 27th.
Thanks to all that came out to help paint the compass rose at the Southern Museum of Flight! It turned out great and just needs a few finishing touches. We had a great time, starting early (8 AM) and finishing up by 11:30 before heading to lunch at the Olive Garden. Attached is a photo of the finished product. Dr. Jim Griffin the director of the Museum was very happy with it!
May 2009
There will be no meeting in May, due to Spring Section meeting in Pensacola, FL. Info is below!
Southeast Section Meeting:
Our next section meeting will be in Pensacola on May 1 –3. And we've planned a weekend full of adventure. The fun begins with a Friday evening Welcome Reception overlooking the pool – and beach!
Saturday afternoon, we'll host a reception at the National Naval Aviation Museum (think Blue Angels)! We'll invite all licensed women pilots who live within a 150 radius of Pensacola to gather with us as we share stories about flying and The 99s.
As the guest speaker at our Saturday evening dinner, CarolAnn Garratt will share her story of amazing adventure. Last month, CarolAnn and Carol Foy (both are 99s) set a world record when they flew around the world, in just 8 ½ days, in CarolAnn’s Mooney.
Our host hotel, the Hilton on Pensacola Beach, is offering our special group rate from April 28 to May 5, allowing everyone to have a vacation for family and friends. So mark your calendar because you don’t want to miss the fun!
For more information, please see the Southeast 99 Spring Meeting flyer.
